Blogging to Generate Business | Lorman Education Services

Blogging has been one of the more confusing digital marketing strategies over the years, but it’s still here and more prevalent than ever. Here are 2 ways to generate business from your blog:

Search Engine Optimization

SEO is not dead; plenty of traffic is still coming from search engines. While it may be a bit more difficult now to get those coveted top 3 positions in Google, content ultimately still reigns king. Having a well-planned content calendar aligned with hyper targeted keyphrases will ensure you get the most out of your blogging efforts.

Another approach to what you can write about is thought leadership in your industry. What is new, or upcoming that people should know about? What has happened over the past year that has changed, that people need to take notice of?

Socialization

Ah yes…Social Media the over hyped medium that is sucking the productivity out of corporations around the globe. Yes, I know social can be a huge waste of time but there is no denying the speed at which sharing great ideas and content happens, be it on Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter. Blogging regularly gives you something new to post on your social profiles as well as great engagement tools on your blog post itself.

So ask people to share your articles, comment on them, ask them to take some action that will ultimately help you get out further than your current circles of influence. The key is to ask! So many people and business don’t tell people what they want them to do…so people don’t do it. Hoping that people will share your article, or like, or comment on it is the worst strategy you can have. Let your audience know what you would like them to do.
