The Water Quality Standards Game - EPA and the States Up the Ante

Gain an understanding of the dramatic changes in the scope of regulations and requirements.

Hundreds of thousands of businesses across the country are, or soon will be, subject to an increasingly complex set of regulations regarding the discharge of storm water from properties they own, lease, or rent to others. The universe of companies who are, or soon will be, subject to these regulations include industrial facilities, commercial facilities such as shopping centers, and institutions such as hospitals and nursing homes. Compliance with these new regulations is becoming both more complex and more expensive with the imposition of numeric effluent limitations and increasing enforcement by NGOs and private bounty hunters. This information will help the practitioner interpret these new regulations and ensure compliance. The presentation will also provide an overview of the storm water provisions of the Clean Water Act and how they are enforced and consider recent regulatory actions and court cases interpreting and expanding these regulations. Leave this presentation with tools to help address these dramatic changes.
