Protecting Your Company From Overtime Suits

Learn to navigate and cut through the tangled web of wage and hour law issues.

Companies are frequently faced with employee overtime lawsuits based on the Federal Labor Standards Act (FLSA), state, and local laws. Furthermore, wage and hour claims may be brought on behalf of a class and/or on a collective basis, which can multiply the scope of the litigation. If successful, employees may be able to recover unpaid wages, liquidated damages, other penalties, interest and attorneys' fees and costs. This program will provide you with an overview of the federal, state, and local wage and hour laws and assist you in understanding best practices to avoid these claims.

Learning Objectives

  • You will be able to differentiate between types of legal actions and classification tests under the FLSA.
  • You will be able to recognize key exemptions from FLSA wage and hour requirements.
  • You will be able to identify employer responsibilities related to wage compliance under the FLSA.
  • You will be able to recognize valid defenses employers may use in response to FLSA claims.
