Paralegal's Guide to Administrative Law Research

Administrative law research can be complex given the procedures for creating and publishing rules that have the effect of law. This is true for researching federal and state rules. Agencies also adjudicate disputes that arise under the implementation of their rules and issue written decisions which can affect the interpretation of those rules. The Internet is a source for some of this material, but is not a one stop access area to everything a researcher could need in tracking down a regulation or decision.

This OnDemand Webinar establishes a context for how administrative rules are created, what publications are authoritative, and how they may be located in print and online. The program also explains strategies for finding and updating rules and locating the administrative decisions that may affect the interpretation of those rules. The procedures at the federal level are fairly well established. Administrative research at the state level will vary with jurisdictions. The OnDemand Webinar will explain some of the context a researcher needs to take into account to research these materials in comparison to those at the federal level. You should expect to have an understanding of the administrative law process and how to approach research problems involving administrative law.
