Volunteer Engagement: Recruit, Retain, and Secure Staff

February 15

Learn successful strategies to bridge the gap between volunteer engagement and retention.

According to Fidelity Charitable Funds, two out of every three volunteers either stopped or cut back on their volunteer activities due to Covid. More than one out of 10 volunteer organizations had to cease operations. Given the strange times that we’re in, reintroducing volunteerism to our communities can be a challenge for many organizations. Many, however, often overlook or don’t give enough credence to the low-hanging fruit that can successfully attract and retain volunteers—at low and sometimes no cost. This presentation will bring commonsense solutions to bear on the recruitment and retention of volunteers and will package these solutions in such a way as to demonstrate to everyone in the organization—from support staff to board members—the key roles they play in this effort. Learn what it takes to be part of the team.

Learning Objectives

  • You will be able to better define who your organization is, what it does, how it does it, and why anyone—especially your target audiences—should care.
  • You will be able to explain what changes may be needed to improve your volunteers’ experience.
  • You will be able to identify strategies for recruiting and retaining volunteers.
  • You will be able to recognize the need not only to promote your volunteer opportunities but also the importance of ‘selling’ your organization to your target audiences.
