One of the most negative environmental impacts resulting from urbanization is the pollution to our waters and the erosion of our streams as a result of increased stormwater. Urbanization causes increased volumes of stormwater, flow rates and contaminant loadings. Traditional stormwater management relies on moving the water as fast as possible to the nearest water body. This on-demand webinar helps engineers and planners to select and design detention ponds for stormwater management and provides options to modify detention ponds and integrate them into green infrastructure. Failure to properly design and maintain the appropriate detention pond for protecting water bodies can lead to increased stormwater pollution at high costs.
Learning Objectives:
- You will be able to describe stormwater control measures.
- You will be able to discuss maintenance and inspection.
- You will be able to review the integration of detention ponds in green developments.
- You will be able to identify natural vs. urban environmental hydrology.
