Best Practices in Limiting Liquor Liability

A couple of questions you've asked yourself: How do I know if I'm breaking the rules when no one has told me what they are? How does an 18 year old cocktail waitress go about refusing alcohol service to anyone? How do I recognize if a patron is intoxicated when I run a very large and very busy nightclub?

The business of serving/selling alcohol is a great business. It's hospitality, its entertainment, its excitement. It's also fraught with risk. Patrons driving drunk from your establishment, assaults, drowning, and rapes are some of the more serious issues alcohol establishments must address. The list goes on and on. The general population is tired of hearing about drunk patrons driving away from bars, crashing and killing or injuring innocent people. The tolerance for a bar over-serving patrons is nonexistent.

Another question: Why should the bar be responsible? Bars are in the business of serving alcohol. Serving alcohol is perfectly legal. This question will be addressed with others during this OnDemand Webinar.

Anyone who enters the hospitality industry does so with high hopes and the best of intentions. While the practical aspects of the field often meet or exceed expectation liability of employee service of alcohol can bring a business to its knees or even wipe it out. This OnDemand Webinar will clarify the nature of the risk, then cover management methods and other risk management tools such as insurance, training, and business structure. At the conclusion of the program, participants should have a clear idea of not only the risks and methods, but how to develop their own program to prevent incidents in general and protect against the incidents that do occur.

Participants will also walk away with a clear knowledge of the national standard of care regarding the service of alcohol, best practices to meet the standard of care and risk management tools to put into place to meet or exceed those standards.
