Gain an understanding of this complex issue and learn how to recognize the warning signs of trafficking.
Employers of all sizes across American industries seek to comply with immigration laws; however, they face the daunting task of determining whether potential workers present appropriate identification documents and valid employment authorizations for working within the United States. This live webinar will acquaint employers with the problems besetting victims of forced labor and/or human trafficking forced to perform work for the benefit of their abusers. Preyed upon because of their poverty and other vulnerabilities, such victims live in unsafe conditions from which they cannot escape and in which they are subject to physical and emotional abuse. Their abusers typically confiscate documents and wages as reimbursement for living expenses. Employers will learn the requirements of the E-Verify program, the importance of employer-initiated regular Form I-9 audits, and the costs of defending against DHS notices of inspection and violation for incorrect or false Form I-9s. Employers will also learn to recognize signs of human trafficking and forced labor exploitation, as well as recommended actions for assisting victims. This live webinar should assist employers in avoiding the substantial civil and criminal penalties that they and their executives and managers could face under federal and/or state law.
