Historic Building Renovations and Transformations

Walk away with a better understanding of what you need to do when working on historical buildings or structures.

Many developers who would like to work with historic structures are not aware of the various types of historic properties and the approval process to obtain the necessary permits for an historic structure. The process becomes very complex with the substantial modification of the uses of the existing building. If extensive additions or alterations are proposed for the project, the approval process is even more challenging. This topic, through photographs, will illustrate theses various problems and how they were solved to the satisfaction of the various approval jurisdictions. The projects illustrated will be taken from various commercial, office, residential and mix-use structures. The presenters have a combined experience of more than 90 years of dealing with projects of an historical nature for preservation, change of use, modification, adaptive re-use and additions of both a minor and a substantial nature. This topic will be of benefit to both experienced developers and those new to the historic genre.
