The creation of a critical path schedule is both an art and a science. There is no single way to do it; however, certain guidelines can make the process more effective and efficient. In this course, we examine two important steps: dividing the project into activities and estimating their durations. We begin by breaking the project into the appropriate number of activities, using specific criteria to ensure they are easily measured and controlled. Next, we estimate the duration of each activity. This step is crucial because any error or inaccuracy in duration estimates directly affects the calculated project completion date. Many factors influence these durations, and schedulers must be aware of them.
