Taking the Mystery out of Depositions

Preparing witnesses, taking and defending

The main purpose of taking a deposition is to gather information and trial preparation should be the focus of any deposition. Depositions may also be used to preserve witness testimony as well as using in motion for summary judgment, to assess the other party’s willingness to settle, and for impeachment or to use at trial. This white paper reviews the rules of the road, the civil rules applicable to deposition, which are governed by Rule 30; as well as how to prepare your client for deposition.
