Article 9 of AIA Document A201 governs payment on the Project. It specifies a specific procedure which must be followed in order to be paid. Interestingly, the Architect has a large role in determining the values to be paid to the Contractor. Failure to adhere to the payment process will delay a contractor from receiving the payments it is entitled to receive under the Contract Documents.
