OIG AO 18-13 Allows Charitable Donations Made by Business Affiliates to Fund Research Institute

 

The Office of Inspector General issues a favorable opinion due to low fraud risk.

Recent opinion issued by the OIG observed the possibility of producing prohibited payments due to the trustees directing the contributions. The OIG decided that arrangement posed a low risk of fraud or abuse. This white paper reviews that opinion and how the OIG explained their stance on the situation being low risk.
