New Federal Law Targets Referrals to Substance Abuse Treatment Providers and Labs
Worry is on the rise regarding opioid substance abuse treatment referrals.
There is a growing focus on how to get a handle on the opioid crisis. Already the federal government and several states have enacted legislation to address this concern. In Fall 2018 the Substance Use-Disorder Prevention that Promotes Opioid Recovery and Treatment for Patients and Communities Act was signed into law which consisted of many provisions to tackle the opioid crisis. This white paper reviews the SUPPORT Act and how the Act applies to kickback to health care services.
