Minnesota Federal Court Decision is Warning to Lead Generators
Recent ruling states that lead generators for a payday lender may be liable to punitive damages. A class action was filed on behalf of Minnesotans that used the payday lender’s website during a specific time. This white paper reviews how this payday lender and multiple lead generators violated not only Minnesota’s payday lending statute, they also violated the consumer fraud act and uniform deceptive trade practices act.
Ronald K. Vaske is an attorney with Lindquist & Vennum, PLLP. His practice is focused on financial institutions, particularly in the areas of commercial and consumer finance. He has represented banks and bank holding companies in connection with regulatory matters, mergers and acquisitions, and commercial transactions.
