On a construction project of any significant size, managing and monitoring the work is critical to success.
The owner’s team must ensure that the work is constructed as shown on the drawings and as required by code. The design team must respond to the contractor’s questions, must review proposed products and materials to ensure they are correct for the project, and will likely need to issue changes to the drawings. The owner’s team must ensure that work is proceeding according to schedule, that work is complete before the contractor is paid, and that subcontractors and suppliers are being paid for their work. Managing all of these issues can be a complicated task that requires many different skills, and owners frequently hire a construction manager to provide assistance. This white paper reviews the right steps to take to tackle issues that happen during the construction process.
