Duties of Personal Representatives of Decedent's Estates

 

Become familiar with the responsibilities of a personal representative.

You may have been asked or have been appointed to be a personal representative for an estate. This may be your first opportunity to serve as a personal representative, and you probably have questions concerning your duties and responsibilities. Once a personal representative has been appointed by the court, and Letters of Administration are issued, the personal representative has the authority to deal with and manage the decedent’s probate assets. This white paper is not intended to be an explanation of the law with respect to the administration of estates, but it will help answer some of your questions.
