What Is On the Balance Sheet

The balance sheet includes current assets, fixed assets, current liabilities, long term liabilities, and net worth. Current assets include cash or those assets expected to be converted into cash within one year or one operating cycle, whichever is longer. Fixed assets produce economic benefits for more than one year for the company. Current liabilities are the claims against the assets that must be paid in one year or one operating cycle, whichever is longer. Long term liabilities are obligations by the company of greater than one year that will need to be satisfied.

In this 18-minute video our speaker, Ronald A. Sereika, reviews these assets and liabilities as well as determining net worth/equity. He discusses capital stock, retained earnings and shareholder/stockholder equity.

Ronald A. Sereika, of CooperVision, won the 2013 CCE award of excellence presented by the National Association of Credit management, as well as the 2010 National Instructor of the Year award. Mr. Sereika was a national speaker at NACM Credit Congress, NACM Eastern Regional Conference, Up-state NY Annual meetings from 2011 to 2015.
