Learn tips to prevent fraud.
An employee may take intermittent leave or be on a reduced leave schedule for their own, their child, or for a parent or spouse’s serious health condition. When medically necessary for planned and/or unplanned medical treatment of a related serious health condition, or to deal with consequences of a chronic serious health condition an employer can require certification to explain medical necessity for intermittent/reduced schedule leave and the approximate duration of the leave. If an employee is on foreseeable intermittent leave or reduced schedule leave, an employer may move the employee to an alternative position, with equivalent pay and benefits, that better accommodates recurring periods of leave.
