Sales and Use Tax - Types of Transactions

Learn general sales and use tax rules regarding real property vs. tangible property transactions and what to do if you can’t find a law or regulation to determine if a transaction is taxable or not. In this 17-minute video our speaker, John R. Morrow, reviews transactions on building materials and contracts and how to separate between real property and tangible property. He gives particular attention to transactions with exempt organizations which he describes as “a very misunderstood issue.” Mr. Morrow reviews rentals and leases and what to watch out for. He also reviews sales and use tax transactions in telecommunications, software, and warranties, and wraps up the video with bad debts and losses.

John R. Morrow is an accountant with JR Morrow Consulting, LLC and has 22 years of experience in taxation. His focus is on payroll taxes, sales and use taxes, and financial statement analysis.
