Optimize Your Parking Assets - Basic Parking Construction Costs, Land Use, and Asset Management and Deterioration

 
Municipalities, or any ownership, that is considering developing parking needs to think about what the cost of that parking will be. It’s important to think of not only the one-time cost of the initial development but also the long-term operating costs that can be involved. Keep in mind the cost of parking is important when you’re trying to figure out how to maximize the assets and optimize the parking revenue that you have built.

In this 13-minute video our speakers, Phillip Schragal and Jonathan Wicks, reviews asset maintenance and the importance of maintaining the infrastructure. The asset has to be usable to collect revenue. They also review asset deterioration and the cost of routine maintenance vs. deferred maintenance catch up costs.

Phillip Schragal is the Director of Operations Consulting at Walker Parking Consultants. He heads Walker’s Parking Operations Consulting Group, which includes studies related to all facets of parking operations, due diligence, financial and parking planning, and auditing. Mr. Schragal is involved in the development, administration and negotiation of request for proposals for both private owners and public agencies seeking third-party parking management by professional parking operators.

Jonathan Wicks is a Parking Operations consultant at Walker Parking Consultants. He joined Walker’s Parking Operations Consulting Group after 10 years of leadership positions with private parking operators. Mr. Wicks is based out of the Los Angeles office he covers the West Coast and has expertise in all manners of parking including, Class A commercial garages, hotel, event and stadium, on street valet, mixed use, municipalities, off-airport and flat lots.

  • As a parking consultant with 20+ years of hands-on parking operations experience, many at an executive level, he is particularly adept at solving operational challenges and skillfully projecting the financial outcomes
