Once you have closed the circle of an investigation it’s time to determine what happened. This is the ‘Sherlock Holmes’ piece of the puzzle. The investigator needs to review all of the evidence, consider the type and quality of the evidence, assess witness credibility, and consider biases and motives of the witnesses. This video reviews why it’s important to keep in mind that this is not criminal court, you don’t need proof beyond a reasonable doubt, you need to make the best judgment based on the information obtained, your experience, and your intuition.
