Good maintenance is a key part to a structure’s optimal service life.
Typical purposes of condition assessments of concrete structures include maintaining concrete structures in aggressive environments such as parking garages and bridges where deicing salts are common, or where structures exposed to marine environments. Assessments are also necessary for troubleshooting unexpected poor performance such as cracking, erosion, or disintegration; and due diligence associated with ownership transfer, especially parking structures in cold environments. This video reviews why condition assessments are an important step in any planning rehabilitation strategy and for making service life predictions.
