Changes to Existing Trusts and Planning With New See-through Trusts

Could these changes be beneficial for some of your clients?

Due to the changes from the SECURE Act, there will now be accelerated payouts for non-eligible designated beneficiaries (all retirement plan assets in the hands of non-EDBs distributed in ten years, instead of having those assets paid out over lifetime) so some clients may want to switch to an accumulation trust. Note that unlike prior life expectancy payouts where distributions had to be taken each year, distributions can be postponed until the end of the tenth year. Could this be beneficial for some of your clients? This video reviews these changes and discusses best practice estate planning tips for see-through trusts.
