What are the potential disputes concerning allowances?

Allowances are described in multiple ways including being considered a hedge against uncertainty at the time of the original quote or bid. For construction contracts, an allowance is specified amount stated in the contract for a specific item of work that has details yet to be determined at the time of contracting. This video reviews the different types and uses of allowances, contractual considerations, and allowances with AIA, EJCDC and Consensus documents.
