Tiny House Movement - Are You Prepared?

Learn about the current issues and complexities associated with the tiny house movement.

It seems that you can't go online without coming across a video about new styles of tiny houses. In many instances the owner or designer promotes the economic and environmental benefits. The yearly utility cost is usually significantly less than living in a conventional house, which also translates into benefits to the environment. In addition, communities throughout the United States are starting to recognize the benefit of these types of homes in the effort to alleviate homelessness. Even on a short term basis, these homes can provide shelter to those in need. However, due to how they are regulated, they often cannot be sited in any residential neighborhood, for they may be deemed to be a form of a motor vehicle, rather than real property.
This topic will examine each of these issues. It is hoped that you will gain an understanding of the strengths and limitations of this remarkable form of housing.
