Handling Multiple Roles as a Leader

Learn the best practices to expand your strategic impact on the organization and manage people, situations, and items effectively and ethically.

Most organizations have strong operational leaders. Many ascended to their leadership roles from the ranks of managers and supervisors and are adept in their operational abilities. They tend to work to maintain the status quo. In today's complex business environment there is a need for a new approach to leadership, and the roles that leaders must play to solve complex problems have expanded greatly. These problems can't be solved with a single solution or diminutive action. In traditional leadership roles, the focus has been to play one of the following: planner (devising strategies to formulate a plan), director (assigning responsibilities), and controller (making sure everyone does what they should). These roles are outdated, as organizations in the 21st century require strategic leaders that challenge the prevailing view, and can act on big and small picture items at the same time while able to change course as needed. They need to lead with inquiry, engagement, and advocacy while operating from a deeply held humility and respect for others. This requires that leaders take on new roles that expand beyond stakeholders and encompass a broader society. This new style of leader must play new roles such as: visionary (providing a compelling prospective), architect (designing a desired outcome), coach (unleashing the ability of others), and influencer (guiding the actions and opinions of others). The traditional roles become woven into the way people work. This webinar will help you understand these new roles and will guide you on how to handle multiple roles as a leader. It will focus on the best practices and practical strategies that will guide leaders in incorporating, prioritizing, and executing their multiple leadership roles. This class will help leaders expand their strategic impact on the organization and manage people, situations, and items effectively and ethically.
