Gain a full understanding of how the construction substitution process should be conducted.
Construction substitutions can have a significant impact on the overall success of a project. In this process, the request is being made to change initially designed materials and/or application methods with materials and/or application methods that may not be equal to the initial design elements. This topic will focus on how this process is conducted, the specific responsibilities of all of the project participants in this process, and the legal ramifications of the construction substitution changes. There will be a focus on the value engineering method of construction substitutions. In the last decade, the term value engineering has gained prominence in the construction industry. The main objective of value engineering is to maximize the project's function while minimizing the project cost. This process typically occurs during the pre-construction phase and provides an opportunity for the initial project participants (owner, designer, project manager/general contractor) to review the design documents and project criteria. A functional analysis of the facility is conducted to determine key criteria for the building and offer alternative solutions for design, materials, and application methods. The information will also offer case studies that will provide the attendees with a full understanding of how the construction substitution process should be conducted.
