The emphasis on increased board oversight of bank affairs has given outside directors an increasingly important role in guiding their banks' policies and operations. This topic will give inside and outside directors insight into the skills and tools that are critical for meeting the demands foisted upon them by their positions. As bank directors must be knowledgeable, well-informed, and active in overseeing bank management, we will address a number of key topics, including major responsibilities of bank directors, what it looks like to exercise sound leadership, critical regulatory issues, directors' and officers' insurance and indemnification, and corporate governance trends, highlights and expectations for 2020 and beyond.
