Iowa High Speed Police Pursuits

A police vehicle pursuing an actual or suspected felon (or in response to an incident dangerous to the public) may park or stand that vehicle anywhere, disregard laws governing direction of movement, ignore red or stop signs (after slowing down as necessary) speed (as long as a driver does not endanger life or property) as long as the vehicle is making use of either the siren (audible signaling device) or flashing lights (visual signaling device) (except when trying to determine the speed of the suspected violator).

However, the driver must drive with due regard for the safety of all persons and may not
recklessly disregard the safety of others.
