What Are the Types of Abuse Elder Abuse Training Can Help You Detect?
There many types of elder abuse which can impact seniors:
- Sexual abuse. This form of abuse can include unwanted touching, sexual assault and rape. It can leave victims with transmittable diseases, physical injury and emotional trauma.
- Financial abuse. Financial abuse can include outright stealing of assets or can mean convincing elderly residents at a nursing home or those in care to hand over assets, cash or bank account information to the perpetrator. It leads to the elderly being robbed of assets and sometimes being without any resources to pay for basics.
- Emotional abuse. Emotional abuse includes shouting, intimidation, name-calling and similar behavior. It can be frightening and may be combined with other forms of abuse. It often leaves victims afraid to speak up.
