Identify mental illnesses and tools to address them.
If you have 20 people you are working with who are diagnosed with just a mental illness, at least half of them have, or have had at some time in their life, a co-occurring substance use disorder. It is the same for those of you working in the addictions field. Half of your clients have a mental illness diagnosis. This topic will help you begin to identify those that have a co-occurring disorder and give you some basic information and tools to start to address this. We all know that change is difficult and knowing what to do when someone isn't ready to change is a challenge. This topic will address some basic strategies to help a client move forward in the change process.
