This course offers HR professionals, owners, managers and attorneys an overview of the FMLA, and specifically addresses those cases in which the FMLA 12-week leave period may be insufficient for a return to work. The presentation will guide the participants on evaluating other options under state and federal law and to document all efforts not only in complying with the FMLA but those additional options that should be considered by the employer. Lastly, the course will provide insight for employers to engage in risk planning to avoid potential problems of retaliation claims against the employer, and avoid the most common mistakes employers make in applying the FMLA.
