Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) - How Can Three Little Letters Be So Complicated?

Avoid legal missteps under ERISA when administering your company's health savings accounts.

This topic will provide you with all the information you need to know to better understand HSAs. It will explain what an HSA is and how you can use an HSA in a tax advantaged way. We will discuss what types of activities and insurance coverage disqualifies an individual from being an HSA qualified individual, (i.e., an individual eligible to make and receive tax qualified contributions to an HSA). We will examine what happens when an employer offers an HSA qualified individual free health services (i.e., free telehealth services or comprehensive care through its on-site clinic). We will also explore HSAs for individuals who are Medicare eligible.
