Empathy Skills for HR Professionals

Get back to being at your best when dealing with others.

How often have you caught yourself saying, 'I hate people,' and then realize that you mean it? Sure, it's a great way to blow off steam after dealing with a particularly annoying employee or manager issue. When said with your 'inside voice,' there may be no harm in a little levity, right? Wrong. How big of a role does that little voice inside play in your outward demonstration of empathy? The more we talk 'trash' about the people for whom we are responsible, the further away our ability to truly empathize with others gets. Great news -- there is hope, and this presentation will help you find that spark again. Empathy can be tiring (and, in HR, we're already tired.) But let's talk about how empathy can make our jobs easier - for example, we'll learn more about what's really bothering our employees because we'll be demonstrating we sincerely care about their challenges and issues. The topic also reminds us of the importance of self-care; we cannot care for others until we take care of ourselves.
