Legislative History of 1031 Exchanges and 1031 Exchange Into Opportunity Zone

1031 into OZ Strategy: What does and doesn't work?

Section 1031 Exchanges have been part of the tax code for almost a century, going back all the way to 1921. However, with the recent tax reform there was talk about eliminating 1031 exchanges to help pay for the different scoring models. That didn’t happen and 1031 Exchanges continue to be part of the tax code. This video walks through a timeline of the Section 1031 Exchange and discusses the strategy behind Section 1031 Exchanges and Opportunity Zone investments.
