The AIA Owner-Contractor Agreement

Become familiar with how AIA owner contractor agreements fit within your project and the principle underlying features.

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) family of construction agreements is one of the most widely utilized construction contract form on both private, public, and institutional projects. The AIA A101 agreement is the standard form agreement for a contract between a construction project owner and the general or prime contractor. The AIA A201 agreement is the standard form of general conditions for that agreement. Many falsely assume that these documents do not need modification and are neutral to both the owner and the contractor. This material identifies where risk lies in the AIA A101 and A201 agreements and how you can mitigate risk for your client.
