Delay Analysis - Valuable Tool or Black Magic?

Understand the importance of delay analysis and avoid inaccurate and manipulated data that can lead to deceiving results.

Some of the most common causes of delay on construction projects range from poor weather, to budget shortages, to poor scheduling. All of these, if not handled properly, could result in serious financial losses claimed by either the owner or the contractor. In order to solve these disputes, in depth delay analysis is undoubtedly necessary. Given that delays are common and that the use of scheduling tools and technology has improved incredibly, one might think that delay analysis would be relatively simple and straightforward - but it's not! Can delay analysis be a valuable tool or is it merely black magic? This topic will discuss the reasons how delay analysis has become a complex and subjective process and why inaccurate and manipulated data can lead to deceiving results.
