Workers' Compensation Liability and the Remote Employee

Learn how workers' compensation laws affect remote employees and how you can minimize risk of litigation.

More and more companies are allowing employees to leave the controlled confines of the office to work remotely from home. While this has many benefits for both the employee and employer, it also increases potential Workers' Compensation risk for employers. The employer has little to no control over the home premises. The employee may co-mingle work and home duties at once. The employee may even be located in a different state with different Workers' Compensation laws. This topic will assist employers, HR professionals, and attorneys from different states to identify these issues and provide strategies to minimize risk.
