Opportunity Zones Under Tax Reform

Gain a better understanding of what Opportunity Zones are available under recent tax reform.

Enacted in recent tax reform (Tax Cuts and Jobs Act), Opportunity Zones has the potential to be the nation's largest tool for economic development and create a new asset class for community investments. Graduated tax benefits are now available on unrealized capital gains when reinvested into Opportunity Funds and invested in distressed communities. In May, Treasury approved designations for all Qualified Opportunity Zones - places which are eligible to receive Opportunity Fund investments over the next decade - and the IRS is expected to deliver further guidance on Opportunity Fund certification by the end of June. Things are still in motion as the Administration moves to finalize the law, so don't miss this overview where we will cover anticipated next steps and timelines.
