Benefits

Many state and local governments are acquiring a variety of preservation easements for a broad variety of reasons and it is important that property owners understand the proper method of valuing these easements to insure they are receiving just compensation. Further, condemnors are increasingly recharacterizing temporary construction easements as noneasements to avoid paying compensation. Property owners and their attorneys need to know if compensation is required.

This teleconference will aid understanding of temporary construction and preservation easements in the context of eminent domain takings and in voluntary or tax related preservation easements. The teleconference will also explain the method required for valuing a broad variety of easements in these settings. Failing to have a proper valuation of easements can represent a loss of thousands of dollars in awards.
