Benefits

A study shows that many RNs, including pediatric RNs, feel uneasy or inexperienced with regard to recognizing and reporting child maltreatment. In addition, many myths and misconceptions exist surrounding the issues of child maltreatment. This teleconference will assist in dispelling some of these myths and will provide resources so that you can feel more confident with how to respond and how to recognize a possibly abused or neglected child victim.

Learning Objectives

  • You will be able to define child abuse.
  • You will be able to recognize signs of child abuse.
  • You will be able to describe the role of the SANE nurse.
  • You will be able to discuss key aspects of mandatory reporting.
