Estate Planning for Farmers

Estate planning for farmers may not be as unique as expected.

Farmers are in business and generally own or lease significant real estate; and they usually need a lot of equipment and water. Farming is usually dependent on the weather and can be a real up and down business. The transition of the farm to the next generation can be especially problematic because frequently not all of the children wish to continue in the farming business. This white paper discusses how planning for a farm isn’t all that different from planning for any other type of business.
