White Paper

Difficult and Disruptive Students - Brief Review of selected Diagnostic Characteristics

Disruptive and defiant behavior must be addressed while being handled appropriately.

Disruptive and/or defiant behavior can interfere with student learning for not only the disruptive student but the other students in the classroom; as well as the teacher. Punishment usually makes the problem worse and proactive approaches work better than reactive ones. And understanding which approach to take based on the student’s diagnosis is vital.
