Common Sense Approaches to Email and Internet Monitoring

What are the risks of failing to monitor email and Internet use? There is a liability for copyright and trademark infringement, defamation, discrimination and harassment, and overall damage to you brand. On the flip side there are risks to over monitoring as well, such as invading privacy, changing the company culture, and wasting time and not being cost efficient.

Our speakers, L. Julius M. Turman and Eric M. Walder, review best practices for policy creation of email and Internet use and creating clear guidelines of what is permissible and what is impermissible usage in the workplace. They also discusses workplace searches and whether it’s worth doing or not and the importance of including a search policy.
