Juvenile Onset Bipolar Disorders

This information addresses the current thinking and diagnostic skills necessary to diagnose and treat bipolar children and their families. The missing pieces are discussed, which is adequate educational planning. How to work collaboratively with a treating psychiatrist and how to be an advocate for the child and family if the child is not receiving the most up-to-date treatment is also discussed. What is the role of testing and what type of testing is most helpful for these patients and the family and schools? Gain a heightened awareness of this diagnostic category and new skills to approach it with confidence.
