Design and Specification of Masonry Structures Using the MSJC Code and Specification

This OnDemand Webinar is intended to update practicing engineers and architects on simplified, cost-effective techniques for designing masonry structures in the context of the 2011 MSJC Code and Specification.

Beginning with the basic behavior of wall-type buildings, the conference shows how to use fundamental design principles and simple computer spreadsheets to quickly configure, design, detail, and specify masonry structures. The program also contains a quick introduction to the MSJC Code and Specification, the masonry material standard referenced by the International Building Code (the model code used in most jurisdictions in the U.S.). Learning Objectives: •You will be able to describe behavior of wall-type buildings for gravity and lateral loads. •You will be able to discuss strength design of floor and roof diaphragms. •You will be able to explain specification of masonry materials using the MSJC Code and Specification. •You will be able to review the health, safety and welfare aspects of the design and specification of masonry structures.
