    Tennessee’s Training Requirements

All architects working in Tennessee are required to complete 24 credit hours of training every two-year period. 13 of these hours must be in a topic related to what the American Institute of Architects (AIA) defines as the “health, safety and welfare” of the built environment. This is a broadly defined topic that covers a number of things related to the practice of architecture today, including:

    • Structural, mechanical, electrical and other building systems
    • Bidding, negotiation and contract administration
    • Zoning laws, building codes and other regulations
    • And more

Credit can be earned through any AIA-approved course that has clear objectives and is developed by a qualified individual.
